Mr. GuyTVBlog . The Story of Shadowboxer
One of my first memories as a working teen back in the mid 90's is getting a ride home from a male co-worker who drove what I remember was a big black truck. He was caucasian, thin but with muscles and wore tight black tees too many days of the week. He wasn't goth, just how I remember him.
One evening after work he offered to drive me home. He was in his early 20's and kinda cute to this closeted teen who always played the straight role quite good. When I got into the passenger side he asked if I would mind if he played some Fiona Apple. It was the first time I ever heard of her and asked who she was. He showed me her cd and told me she was a new artist and the played the song "shadowboxer" for me. From that moment on this song has a distinct gay memory. When I saw the video for the first time on tv I started to think about him.
He ended up being one of my very first boyhood crushes and my newly rediscovered interest in this song brings back memories of him. He was straight, had a girlfriend and use to talk to me about pussy alot around me. He never knew about my interest in him.
So, if you want to get me laid then this one of the songs you use. I don't even remember his name or what happened to him but thanks to my vintage boyhood crush, Fiona Apple has always been apart of my [secret] gay life as a teen. Apple fans may be please to know that her newest video is featured here on GuyTVBlog.com. Beautifully filmed video from director Floria Sigismondi. Enjoy.

aw, that anecdote gave Corals Rack the warm fuzzies. 'O sailor' is one of my least favorite fiona songs. The new video for 'not about love' is great.
